The Record Factory
Music Education & Professional Music Production,
Built by Musicians
Founded in 2013 by Sums (Sumit Verma) and Goli (Rangoli Garg), The Record Factory began as a humble, self-built studio in Zirakpur, Punjab. Initially dedicated to their personal projects with the band By The Bottle, the duo released original music under their artist names, Sums and Goli. Their 2016 debut album with By The Bottle, Red Wine and Weird Dreams, garnered international acclaim, winning the Best Rock Album award from The Akademia Awards (The Akademia Awards are based in Los Angeles, recognize outstanding achievements in independent music globally) In 2018, they further made their mark with their first Hindi release, Kaali Shaamein followed by Leli in 2022, You are not God in 2024 and a hit banger O Deewane in 2025.
OUR STORY
By 2024, The Record Factory evolved into a premier recording and production hub, relocating to a state-of-the-art studio (again Self Built) in Sector 20, Panchkula, and expanding to offer commercial services. The record label, officially registered with the Indian Music Industry (IMI) in 2018, is now complemented by an academy for music and studio production courses, launched in December 2024.
The Record Factory is a professional music academy in Panchkula as well as a dedicated recording studio built for serious learners and working artists. It is also recognised by many as a modern music school in Panchkula, where structured training and real-world music creation exist side by side, each with its own purpose.
The People Behind
The Record Factory
SUMS
Sums (Sumit Verma), a seasoned musician with a Bachelor’s in Music (Hons) degree from LCCM, Middlesex University, one of the UK’s leading contemporary music colleges, equivalent to a conservatoire-level education in performance and production. He brings both technical depth and real-world experience to The Record Factory.
With guitar as his primary instrument, his work spans performance, composition, and music production.
As co-founder of the band By The Bottle, Sumit has been actively involved in writing, recording, and producing original music. Their album Red Wine and Weird Dreams was recorded in the original studio space he built from the ground up.
As a producer and artist, Sums has over 16 original tracks already released in the market across different projects, with several more currently in production. His most recent work includes a release with Karsh K, reflecting his ongoing involvement in creating and shaping new music.
With years of experience in recording, performing, and producing, Sums brings a sharp musical ear and a strong sense of discipline to both the learning and recording environment. His approach is rooted in clarity, foundation, and pushing artists beyond surface-level understanding, shaping the core identity of The Record Factory.
GOLI
Goli (Rangoli Garg), a visual artist and storyteller, enriches the creative vision of The Record Factory. A singer, co-composer of Sums & Goli releases, and designer of the game F3 showcased at the Golden Egg Exhibition in Tokyo, she seamlessly blends artistry with innovation.
She is a Fine Arts graduate from the College of Art, Chandigarh, and holds a Master’s degree in Design (Visual Communication) from IDC, IIT Bombay, one of India’s most respected design institutions. This foundation reflects in the way she approaches every project, combining strong visual language with narrative depth.
Rangoli made her directorial debut with the short film Kaboolnama, starring Piyush Mishra and Swara Bhaskar, written by Divya Prakash Dubey. She also has a background in Punjabi cinema, contributing to films like Singh v/s Kaur and Rangeelay.
Expanding her creative presence into music, she recently co-composed, sang, and co-produced the track O Deewane with Sums, marking a natural extension of her storytelling into sound. Her work across mediums adds a unique dimension to the space, shaping not just how things look, but how they feel and connect.
Music Education in Panchkula
Advanced Guitar Jazz Classes
The learning side of The Record Factory functions as a focused music school in Panchkula and the tricity for students who want to build strong foundations and grow with clarity. Training is one-to-one, structured, and designed for serious learners, not casual hobby classes. Many students and parents who come here often say the same thing after a few classes that, they’ve tried different teachers and places before, but this is where they finally begin to understand what music actually is.
Here at The Record Factory Studio and Music Academy, students are trained in guitar, piano, vocals, music theory, and composition, audio production, studio techniques along with ear training and preparation for music grading and higher education.
A strong emphasis is placed on fundamentals, including muscle memory training, correct body posture, precise finger positioning, and tone development, ensuring that technique is built the right way from the beginning.
Students training in guitar, composition, and production are also guided toward advanced concepts, including jazz-level understanding, depending on their level and commitment.
The goal here isn’t just to play songs, but to truly understand music, develop discipline, and build long-term musical ability.

divya nehraTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I’ve been attending this music class for the past two months, and it has been a truly enriching experience. The instructor is patient, knowledgeable, and very encouraging, making each session enjoyable and easy to follow, even for beginners. The lessons are well-structured, balancing theory and practical learning, which has helped me improve my confidence and understanding of music significantly. Overall, I would highly recommend this music class to anyone looking to learn or enhance their musical skills in a positive and engaging atmosphere. Balram BansalTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I highly recommend Mr Sumit to anyone who is serious about learning guitar properly. His level of skill and understanding of music is exceptional, and it clearly reflects in the way he teaches. He doesn’t just show what to play, but explains the logic behind it — including technique, timing, tone control, and musical expression. One of his biggest strengths is his ability to break down complex concepts into simple, easy-to-understand steps. His knowledge of fundamentals like finger positioning, rhythm accuracy, and sound clarity has helped me improve faster than I expected. He also pays close attention to small details and corrects mistakes patiently, which makes a huge difference in long-term progress. If you’re looking for a highly skilled, knowledgeable, and dedicated guitar teacher who genuinely cares about your progress, I strongly recommend him. Learning from him has been one of the best decisions in my musical journey. Jasleen HanspalTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I’ve been taking vocal and guitar lessons at Record Factory in Panchkula, and it has been an absolutely wonderful experience. Sumit Verma is an exceptionally well-educated, multi-instrumentalist master of craft. His depth of musical knowledge, technical know how and passion for teaching really stand out. He teaches foundations, technique and expression; and has a unique ability to see your potential. He ensures every detail is understood correctly. I was surprised to find someone in Panchkula, and even the tri city area, with his expertise and industry experience. His recording studio is at par with industry level studios. And his vision to nurture artists is commendable. I highly recommend joining The Record Factory - whether a beginner or someone looking to hone their musical skills. Karsh KTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I recently completed a music project with them, and it was the first time I truly experienced the essence of creating real music. From the first spark of inspiration to the final mix, the journey was absolutely breathtaking. But what made it unforgettable was the unwavering support—they believed in me, and that belief lit the way. It wasn’t just a song—it was a story, an emotion, a piece of my soul. That experience changed how I see music forever. I feel truly grateful to have met people like you. Your presence has brought light to my journey—thank you from the heart. 🫶 Wanton RuminatingTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. As an occasional visitor to Panchkula from a small town, I was desperately looking for a piano teacher for my 9 YO. Teachers with training in Hindustani clasical insist on teaching "by ear" which was not showing results. Here, we met Sumit at the Record Factory who began with the basics. Although his core strengths are guitar and vocals, he is extremely good on the piano as well. He has begun with finger exercises and basic steps of understanding and reading music. He does not take online classes, which he insists will not help at this stage and I reluctantly agree. He is also very patient with the child as she struggles with finger movements and reading the music. He also told me that he could take piano up to a certain level and then recommend online teachers. As I tried to cram as many classes as possible in a two-week holiday, he was the one who insisted that I not "over-burden" or stress the child. Anyone else would have been happy to take my money and walk away. A truly honest and dedicated professional. Fees is on par with other piano classes in the area and in Delhi. So glad to see a trained music maestro in Panchkula. Yatharth VermaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Where Learning Meets Real Creation
Sumit’s training at LCCM, a UK institution producing professional musicians for international markets, represents a level of formal music production education that very few educators and producers in India possess. Most Indian music schools are run by performers without formal production training. The Record Factory is one of the few spaces in the country where that gap is addressed.
While the music academy and recording studio operate independently, students gain exposure to real studio environments as part of their training.
This helps them understand how to prepare, perform, and think in real recording situations, without blurring the line between learning and professional production.
