ABOUT THE RECORD FACTORY
Founded in 2013 by Sums (Sumit Verma) and Goli (Rangoli Garg), The Record Factory began as a humble, self-built studio in Zirakpur, Punjab. Initially dedicated to their personal projects with the band By The Bottle, the duo released original music under their artist names, Sums and Goli. Their 2016 debut album with By The Bottle, Red Wine and Weird Dreams, garnered international acclaim, winning the Best Rock Album award from Akademia Awards. In 2018, they further made their mark with their first Hindi release, Kaali Shaamein followed by Leli in 2022, You are not God in 2024 and a hit banger O Deewane in 2025.
OUR STORY
By 2024, The Record Factory evolved into a premier recording and production hub, relocating to a state-of-the-art studio (again Self Built) in Sector 20, Panchkula, and expanding to offer commercial services. The record label, officially registered with the Indian Music Industry (IMI) in 2018, is now complemented by an academy for music and studio production courses, launched in December 2024.
The Record Factory is a professional music academy in Panchkula as well as a dedicated recording studio built for serious learners and working artists. It is also recognised by many as a modern music school in Panchkula, where structured training and real-world music creation exist side by side, each with its own purpose.
The People Behind The Record Factory
SUMS
Sums (Sumit Verma), a seasoned musician with a Bachelor’s in Music (Hons) degree from LCCM, Middlesex University, UK, brings both technical depth and real-world experience to The Record Factory.
With guitar as his primary instrument, his work spans performance, composition, and music production.
As co-founder of the band By The Bottle, Sumit has been actively involved in writing, recording, and producing original music. Their album Red Wine and Weird Dreams was recorded in the original studio space he built from the ground up.
As a producer and artist, Sums has over 16 original tracks already released in the market across different projects, with several more currently in production. His most recent work includes a release with Karsh K, reflecting his ongoing involvement in creating and shaping new music.
With years of experience in recording, performing, and producing, Sums brings a sharp musical ear and a strong sense of discipline to both the learning and recording environment. His approach is rooted in clarity, foundation, and pushing artists beyond surface-level understanding, shaping the core identity of The Record Factory.
GOLI
Goli (Rangoli Garg), a visual artist and storyteller, enriches the creative vision of The Record Factory. A singer, co-composer of Sums & Goli releases, and designer of the game F3 showcased at the Golden Egg Exhibition in Tokyo, she seamlessly blends artistry with innovation.
She is a Fine Arts graduate from the College of Art, Chandigarh, and holds a Master’s degree in Design (Visual Communication) from IDC, IIT Bombay, one of India’s most respected design institutions. This foundation reflects in the way she approaches every project, combining strong visual language with narrative depth.
Rangoli made her directorial debut with the short film Kaboolnama, starring Piyush Mishra and Swara Bhaskar, written by Divya Prakash Dubey. She also has a background in Punjabi cinema, contributing to films like Singh v/s Kaur and Rangeelay.
Expanding her creative presence into music, she recently co-composed, sang, and co-produced the track O Deewane with Sums, marking a natural extension of her storytelling into sound. Her work across mediums adds a unique dimension to the space, shaping not just how things look, but how they feel and connect.
Music Education in Panchkula
The learning side of The Record Factory functions as a focused music school in Panchkula and the tricity for students who want to build strong foundations and grow with clarity. Training is one-to-one, structured, and designed for serious learners, not casual hobby classes. Many students and parents who come here often say the same thing after a few classes that, they’ve tried different teachers and places before, but this is where they finally begin to understand what music actually is.
Here at The Record Factory Studio and Music Academy, students are trained in guitar, piano, vocals, music theory, and composition, audio production, studio techniques along with ear training and preparation for music grading and higher education.
A strong emphasis is placed on fundamentals, including muscle memory training, correct body posture, precise finger positioning, and tone development, ensuring that technique is built the right way from the beginning.
Students training in guitar, composition, and production are also guided toward advanced concepts, including jazz-level understanding, depending on their level and commitment.
The goal here isn’t just to play songs, but to truly understand music, develop discipline, and build long-term musical ability.
